Position description

The Jacobs Lab in the Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time Project Scientist or Associate Project Scientist for the UCLA Microbiome Core. The Project Scientist will implement and refine sequencing-based microbiome assays including rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics; supervise Microbiome Core technicians; troubleshoot technical issues that arise; provide consultations to Microbiome Core users on experimental design for microbiome studies; collaborate with Microbiome Core users to analyze data generated by the Microbiome Core; monitor expenditures and Sales and Service revenue for the Microbiome Core; and develop protocols for new microbiome services. This position will require expertise in efficient library preparation for next generation sequencing, human and animal model microbiome studies, and bioinformatics analysis of microbiome data. A Ph.D. is required.
