Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent Full-Time Property Controller II (PCII). The vacancy exists in the General Services Asset Management Unit and is under the direct supervision of the Asset Manager (Staff Services Manager I). A Training and Development opportunity may also be considered.

The PCII is responsible for the inventory control of the hospital's non-Capitalized (minor) assets and other duties relating to the daily operations of the Asset Management Unit. Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Managing a clean and orderly Property Warehouse by assessing and maintaining the proper storage of all State property, while adhering to fire and safety regulations.
  • Tracking, inventorying, recording, and disposition of all assets located throughout the facility utilizing Total Package and Excel databases and the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) program.
  • Conducting monthly inventories of Capitalized (major) assets within a 3-year cycle in preparation for the 3-Year Major Inventory report.
  • Assisting Asset Analyst in assigning property identification tags to new Capitalized assets.
  • Completing the acquisition process for various assets by researching suitable Vendors, acquiring bids, and completing requisitions in accordance with Procurement guidelines.
  • Researching product availability and specifications for new and existing assets in accordance with hospital uniformity and safety regulations.
  • Processing daily property requests by reviewing for accuracy and recording data for tracking purposes.
  • Assisting Motor Pool Drivers in fulfilling daily property requests by delivering, picking-up, and/or relocating office furniture and equipment throughout the hospital and conducting office moves, set-ups/take-downs for hospital special events, and other hospital needs.
  • Assisting Asset Analyst with the GovDeal online auction program for State property by assessing and preparing assets for auction, maintaining online listings, finalizing documents, and scheduling property for removal.
Candidate must possess strong knowledge and experience in inventorying and tracking equipment, competency to understand and adhere to various policies and regulations, capability to work independently, ability to maintain accurate records, great organizational skills, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience in FI$Cal.
  • Possess a valid Class C California Driver License to drive a State Vehicle and operate an electric cart to complete daily task throughout hospital grounds and off-grounds as needed.
  • Capability of lifting and pulling up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

T&D assignments are temporary assignments of up to 24 months for training purposes. DSH encourages the use of T&D assignments to provide employees the opportunity to obtain any or a combination of the following:
