Position Summary

This is a position of key strategic significance for the future fundraising success of the Franklin College of Arts and Science and one of extremely confidential nature. The Associate Director of Prospect Management and Analytics works with Franklin College Development & Alumni Relations staff as well as with UGA Central Foundation advancement staff. The position has three main functions that are critical to the success of the College's fund-raising efforts: Data Management/Reporting, Prospect Management, and Prospect Strategy. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, involving independent action and judgment in finding solutions that will move the entire fundraising enterprise forward. Strong partnerships with Franklin's fundraisers and leadership team, as well as with the UGA Central Foundation, are essential to the success of this role. The position involves strong analytical, synthesizing, communication, and presentation skills. The role has access to confidential donor/alumni information; demonstrated integrity and ability to build trust are integral to success. The following list of expected duties should not be considered as all-encompassing but subject to change by the Franklin College as needed to meet the goals of the Office of Development.

Prospect Management:
  • Strategic, comprehensive, and detailed prospect management for Franklin College to maximize giving and ensure principal, major gift, and annual giving portfolios are appropriately sized, and include high-capacity potential donors with evidence-based demonstrated interest.
  • Provides prospect strategy, prospect management, and portfolio analysis for all Franklin fundraisers and assists non-Franklin fundraisers with their Franklin prospects as needed.
  • Ensures that foundation and industry prospects are represented in the pipeline for the office.
  • Identify proactive prospects from an alumni base of 100,000+ through skilled analyzing, interpreting, and prioritizing prospect ratings and various screening results for capacity and interest in financially supporting the Franklin College. This will include generating and segmenting lists, as well as continually mining data to identify individual leads.
  • Assist fundraisers with approaches to prospect qualification, identifying potential areas of interest, possible connections to other alumni, and engagement opportunities.
  • Review qualification activities to ensure outreach is high-quality, thorough, timely, and strategic.
  • Provide assistance to fundraisers in evaluating when to let a prospect go, vs. when to keep trying.
  • Partner with new fundraisers to develop their portfolios.
  • Manage the Franklin fundraising pipeline, working with fundraisers to maintain focus on current gift opportunities while also ensuring that each fundraiser is building their pipeline for future years.
  • Analyze prospect plans periodically to ensure the pipeline is accurate.
  • Proactively communicate with leadership about the status of the pipeline, including concerns or significant changes.
  • Partner with fundraisers to ensure the highest possible ask is planned relative to each prospect's capacity, past giving, and interests.
  • Periodically review fundraisers' portfolios in detail, ensuring portfolios are balanced by stage of the development cycle, prospects are well-covered, and fundraisers are working towards appropriately sized asks. Work with fundraisers to identify strategic next steps, and to implement improvements or adjustments when needed.
  • Assist fundraisers with prioritizing prospects to ensure top prospects are under timely, strategic cultivation.
  • Identify opportunities to move gifts forward through collaboration with other fundraisers, whether in Franklin or outside Franklin.
  • Request prospect research from the Central Prospect Research team as needed. Maximize fundraising efforts by proactively monitoring portfolios and collaborating with all Franklin fundraisers on prospect strategies at every stage of the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and leadership (dean, associate deans, directors, etc.) to prioritize prospects as needs arise. This includes prioritizing prospects for: invitations to the Franklin Sky Suite, leadership functions, other events; matching gift opportunities; custom stewardship needs, such as the Cornerstone Society, and other ad hoc needs.
  • In conjunction with each fundraiser's manager, train new fundraisers on Franklin's best practices for prospect management and use of the GAIL system.

Data Management & Reporting
  • Create, generate, and update all fundraising reports, using automation, assistance from Central DAR reporting to streamline the reporting process as much as possible. These reports include fundraising results, pipeline forecasts, and fundraiser metrics.
  • Interpret reports for internal recipients, using metrics to inform future actions, opportunities, and areas of success or concern. Present data in the appropriate format for each audience, using metrics to motivate and guide behavior.
  • Create new reports, lists, and query selections upon request, whether through hands-on query-writing or utilizing the Central IT team for purposes including, but not limited to, events, travel, solicitations, communications, etc.
  • Gain and maintain an understanding of the data available through GAIL and other resources, and identify innovative uses to advance fundraising and stewardship efforts
  • Serve as the liaison to the UGA Central Research teams for IT, Prospect Management, and Prospect Research.
  • Serve as the internal expert on GAIL prospect management functions and data capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned
