The Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Research Coordinator. The successful candidate will be expected to provide overall coordination of the UVA undergraduate initiative, Hoos Connected.
  • Provide support to 20 to 50 ongoing Hoos Connected groups at a time, including provision of written materials, coordination of extra bonuses for participation (participant incentives).
  • Coordinate with Residence Life and Arts & Sciences to assure adequate space is available for both groups and supervision.
  • Assist in the supervision of undergraduate facilitators leading groups
  • Manage Hoos Connected student Executive Board, coordinating their activities to meet the overall goals of the program
  • Manage social media presence of the program.
  • Manage the logistics of enrollment and creation of groups for Hoos Connected, including placing 300+ students into groups and assigning 50+ facilitators to intervention and supervision groups based on scheduling constraints and interpersonal considerations

Qualified candidates must have:

Minimum Requirements

Education: Associate's degree in related field. A B.A. or B.S. in Psychology or Child Development is preferred.

Experience: Equivalent experience/course work will be considered in lieu of degree. Experience using statistical software, working with complex research designs, coding observational data.

Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have experience with group processes and group dynamics, as well as experience coordinating complex projects involving coordinating efforts of multiple entities in a University context.

The Research Coordinator will report to Joseph Allen, Professor of Psychology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position is located In Charlottesville, Virginia.

The anticipated start date is June 17, 2024. This position isa restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range: $40,000.00 to $44,000.00 annually; commensurate with education and experience. This is a NonExempt level, benefited position.
