Job Description:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive medical care to clients with substance use disorders. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, the NP assesses, diagnoses, and manages the physical and mental health needs of clients, prescribes medications, and develops individualized treatment plans. The NP also conducts psychiatric evaluations, offers psychoeducation to clients and their families, and participates in treatment team meetings to ensure holistic care delivery.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and physical assessments of clients presenting with co­occurring disorders.

2. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

3. Prescribe and manage medications for clients with substance use and mental health disorders, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.

4. Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families on medication management, symptom management, and relapse prevention strategies.

5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions, making adjustments as necessary to optimize client outcomes.

6. Document all clinical encounters, assessments, treatment plans, and interventions accurately and in a timely manner.

7. Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to review client progress and coordinate care.

8. Collaborate with community resources, referral sources, and other healthcare providers to facilitate continuity of care and support services for clients.

9. Stay abreast of current evidence-based practices, research findings, and emerging trends in the field of addiction medicine and psychiatry.

10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice, maintaining confidentiality and always respecting the rights and dignity of clients.

Qualifications:

- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry/Mental Health from an accredited program.

- Current license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in area of practice.

- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an outpatient mental health or substance use disorder treatment setting.

- Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use disorders and mental health disorders.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other computer applications used for documentation and communication.
