MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Psychologist 1:
A master's degree in psychology that prepared graduates for positions treating individuals in clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school settings or completion of graduate coursework in a qualifying doctoral level program in psychology that would be the equivalent required for conferral of a master's degree in psychology and and two years of appropriately supervised post-master's clinical psychology experience in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting, where your primary duties were providing psychological services or completed a clinical psychology practicum, externship, or fieldwork assignment as part of a qualifying master's degree in psychology program.

Psychologist 2:

A master's degree in psychology and three years of supervised, post-degree psychology experience in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting.

Provisional Appointment:
In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following promotion or open competitive qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment:

Promotion:

? Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychologist 1 or as a Psychologist 1 (Spanish Language).

Open Competitive:

A doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology and one year of qualifying experience may be substituted for both the education and experience requirements. A clinical psychology practicum, externship, or fieldwork assignment, that was completed as part of a qualifying master of psychology degree program, may be substituted for one year of the required experience. A certificate of advanced study in a clinical field of psychology or school psychology may be substituted for one year of the required experience..**

*A practicum, externship, or clinical fieldwork assignment is defined as a direct clinical training experience in providing psychological services in an appropriate inpatient or outpatient community mental health,
developmental disabilities services, forensic or community setting; which is a component of a qualifying Master of Psychology degree program and would also be listed on the official transcript.
? Substitutions for post-master's degree experience: A doctoral degree in clinical psychology may be substituted for two years of post-master's degree experience.

**Experience in a clinical, community mental health, addiction treatment facility, or forensic setting is considered to be any direct care experience with individuals, families, or groups in a hospital, psychiatric hospital, psychiatric clinic, community mental health clinic, correctional facility, intermediate care facility, institutional or school setting, or community based residential and/or day program under the supervision of a doctoral level psychologist, licensed psychologist, licensed physician, or licensed psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or licensed clinical social worker. Qualifying experience for Psychologist 2 must primarily include administering assessments and tests for diagnostic psychological evaluations or completing functional behavioral assessments; developing behavior support plans; or writing psychological treatment plans; providing psychological counseling and treatment in one or more of the following areas: mental and/or emotional disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioral disorders, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, substance abuse disorders, sex offender assessment and treatment, or forensic mental health.
In addition, experience in experimental psychology, research psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, health psychology, utilization review, guidance counseling, as a habilitation specialist, pastoral counseling, or experience as an instructor of psychology will NOT be considered as qualifying.

Non-qualifying master's and doctoral degrees include, but are not limited to the following: degrees in education, counseling, clinical counseling, clinical hypnosis, community counseling, educational counseling, forensic counseling, guidance counseling, human relations, marriage and family counseling, professional counseling, rehabilitative counseling, school counseling, student and personal services, mental health counseling, psychological counseling, pastoral psychology, transpersonal psychology, neuroscience, experimental psychology, industrial or organizational psychology or health psychology.
Note: If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.

Notes:

1. Non-qualifying degrees include, but are not limited to the following: education, educational psychology, educational counseling, guidance counseling, experimental psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, student and personnel services, mental health counseling, human relations, etc.

2. Psychology experience in a clinical setting is considered to be any direct care experience with individuals, families, or groups in a hospital, clinic, private practice, or correctional setting under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. Qualifying experience must primarily include performing psychological evaluations or assessment tests, psychological diagnostic testing, developing psychological treatment plans, providing psychological counseling and treatment in one or more of the following areas: mental and/or emotional disorders, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, sex offender assessment and treatment, or forensic mental health.

3. The following experience is NOT considered qualifying: experience in administration, administrative services, administrative oversight, training, special education, behavior specialist, habilitation specialist, project management, research, or primarily supervisory experience. Other non-qualifying experience including, but is no limited to, experience in experimental psychology, research psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, utilization review, guidance counseling, etc.
Associate Psychologist is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not on the eligible list may apply for this position and if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment. Duties Description DUTIES:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Chief Psychologist (Clinical Supervisor) and/or Treatment Team Leader:

• Provides direct services to high-risk individuals in a forensic setting including counseling, development of High-Risk Behavior Support Plans and Risk Management Plans as assigned.
• Intensive caseloads typically averaging 20-30 high-risk individuals.
• Provides group/individual counseling to individuals with forensic issues.
• Performs specialized forensic assessments including risk assessments, assessment for local and statewide forensic oversight committees, high risk capacity assessments, etc.
• Provides training of staff regarding forensic behavioral, psychological and risk issues.
o Must be available to train in-person for all 3 shifts in 24-hour forensic facility for all high-risk behavior support plans initially and on an ongoing basis for plan changes and/or updates.
• Participates in daily team meetings and special meetings as required for individuals in a high -risk forensic setting.
• Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings as required to meet the needs of the high-risk forensic population.
• Monitors and evaluates issues related to behavior management and clinical practice, including High Risk Behavior Support Plan restrictions, psychotropic medications, etc.
• Together with the medical department, coordinates psychiatry services for high-risk forensic individuals with a variety of in-person and remote practitioners including providing all required clinical information and attending visits to share clinical information and provide support to high-risk individuals.
• Works across teams and units to provide necessary psychology coverage for high-risk individuals as needed.
• Assists Chief Psychologist with dissemination of information regarding discipline specific training/conferences, changes in regulations, discipline specific policy revisions and research findings.
• Completes all trainings relevant to serving in a secured, high-risk forensic setting on an annual basis or as designated by the agency to meet the needs of the facility.
• Will be asked if they wish to serve as part of the Administrator on Duty roster.
• Other responsibilities as assigned or required.
