Responsibilities

Primary Function:

To promote independent living skills through organizing and leading expressive groups, recreational groups, community outings, leisure groups, educational groups, psychosocial rehabilitation groups, and individual sessions. The Activity Therapist functions as part of a Multi-disciplinary team with particular emphasis on groups/activities that utilize their specialized education and clinical training. The Activity Therapist also participates in formulating and implementing treatment plans, which include recommendations for resident's involvement in available programming.

This position requires providing service to the following age population(s) Adult/Older Adult in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience:
BA/BS in Psychology, Therapeutic Activities, Occupational Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy. Combination of experience and training commensurate with his/her assigned task. (Required)

Licenses/Certifications:
ATR (Preferred), CTR (Preferred), or BC (Preferred). CPR certified (Required)

Physical Demand Analysis:
Physical Requirements- Moderate level of physical activity (walking, sitting, standing) occasionally lifts 35-50 pounds. Meets requirements for Physical Examination and Communicable Disease Screenings as per State Requirements.
Visual Requirements- Normal vision requirements.
Hearing Requirements-Able to hear normal conversation and telephone conversation.
Working Conditions-Exposure to inside environment conditions, bloodborne and respiratory pathogens. Due to 24 hour patient care needs, in case of emergency, you may be required to work beyond your scheduled hours.
Other-Able to administer basic first aid. Ability to read and record in medical charts. Writing skills are necessary in order to meet documentation requirements.

Conditions of Employment

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
