Duties

As a (an) Public Health Advisor, you will:
  • . Performs expert analysis of collected data and findings and interprets complex legislative, regulatory, and/or policy guidance for use in managing nationwide public health programs.
  • Formulates national program and project goals, objectives, operating policies, strategic program plans, guidelines, standards, and priorities.
  • Develops and implements strategies and plans for meeting national program objectives. Identifies and evaluates information, data requirements, and resources to establish priorities and to maintain capacity to respond to internal and external demands.
  • Establishes and forges relationships with other local, national and/or international organizations to collaborate and facilitate the development and integration of operating public health program initiatives and activities across a broad area.
  • Serves as the principal manager of considerable budgets for the assigned programs. Develops and manages budgets and approves funding expenditures.
  • Prepares, reviews, negotiates, and/or monitors collaborative agreements, contracts, and/or memorandum of agreement. Coordinates overall administrative and program activities to ensure successful program execution.

The position may require the submission of a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing upon hiring. If required to submit to urinalysis, the appointment to the position will be contingent upon a negative test result.


Qualifications

Desired Qualification Requirements/Experience:
  • Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience directly related to this position that provided candidates with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to include serving in a leadership role as the principal advisor (or comparable position), directing and overseeing multi-functional program activities involving a broad and complex range of public health programs that are operated domestically or abroad, including oversight of contracts, cooperative agreements, interagency agreements, personnel actions, and data modernization efforts.

Applicants must currently occupy a full-time Career or Career Conditional competitive service position within CDC/ATSDR or an Excepted Service position under the Schedule A, Schedule B, or Veterans Recruitment Appointment Authority within the CDC/ATSDR or Commissioned Corps equivalent, unless otherwise specified in the Announcement.
