Position Summary
The University at Buffalo Libraries are seeking a creative, collaborative, and self-motivated individual to provide research and teaching support to faculty, staff, students, and researchers in the School of Public Health and Health Professions. The successful candidate will join the current Public Health and Health Professions liaison in building strategic partnerships within the school through collaboration with faculty and researchers while also providing support to a wide audience of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. The individual will be an important part of the Health Sciences Library Services ( HSLS ) team, which serves users in the five Health Sciences Schools and works with librarians and staff across the University Libraries.

As the Public Health and Health Professions Liaison Librarian, the successful candidate will:
  • Provide research support to and foster relationships with faculty, staff, students, and researchers in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences as well as the Department of Rehabilitation Science.
  • Design and teach curriculum-integrated instruction sessions in a variety of formats to meet the needs of diverse user groups.
  • Provide expert search services for systematic reviews and other research projects.
  • Serve as a member of the HSLS team and contribute to the research literacy efforts of students, faculty, staff, and key partners of the health sciences schools and their affiliates.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to develop new services and programs in emerging areas of health sciences education and research.
  • Communicate current issues and trends in scholarly communication, open access publishing, and data management to faculty and staff in relevant disciplines.
  • Develop engagement activities and communication to promote library resources and services to the university community.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and active participation in professional activities and service.

The Public Health and Health Professions Liaison Librarian will be appointed at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian and will report to the Head of Health Sciences Library Services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in library and information science, or equivalent, from an ALA -accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing justice, diversity, inclusion, and equity in organizations.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging trends, issues, and tools in research or education related to health sciences or biomedical disciplines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and trends in information literacy.
  • Evidence of the ability to do research, publish, and service consonant with the University at Buffalo's standards for tenure and promotion.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic library, health sciences library, special library, or with the health sciences research community.
  • Knowledgeable about the concepts of Evidence-Based Practice ( EBP ).
  • Previous experience in instruction, with classroom teaching preferred.
  • Experience using and providing instruction in using EndNote, a citation management software program.
  • Understanding of current issues surrounding scholarly communication, open access publishing, and data management.
  • Engagement in professional and/or subject discipline organizations, research, or publications.
