LUCI's Communications and External Affairs Office oversees and manages all aspects of communications, including media relations, stakeholder/external as well as internal communications, social media and web content development. Under the direction of LUCI's Public Information Officer II, the Public Information Officer I performs professional and technical tasks to assist LUCI and its branches in informing the public of activities, programs, operations, and objectives of the department and its people.

The position requires the incumbent to work effectively with staff in the Communications and External Affairs Office and other department employees, as well as media representatives, external stakeholders and the general public; analyze and forecast situations and data accurately, take independent action; and make sound decisions. The incumbent must also have the ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships and work independently or as part of the team. The incumbent must maintain consistent and regular attendanc e to meet work commitments

Working Conditions

Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects with or without reasonable accomdadtions. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasional/overnight travel up to 15% may be required.

Department Information
The Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LUCI) serves the Governor and his Cabinet as staff for long-range planning and research and constitutes the comprehensive state planning agency. LUCI assists the Governor and the Administration in planning, research, policy development, and legislative analysis. LUCI formulates long- range state goals and policies to address land use, climate change, population growth and distribution, urban expansion, infrastructure development, groundwater sustainability and drought response, and resource protection. LUCI's budget programs include State Planning and Policy Development, Strategic Growth Council, and the Racial Equity Commission.
