What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center

Report In Location: 1970 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

At the direction of the Public Safety Intelligence Manager within the Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC), develop proper research tools, methods & intelligence request forms to appropriately accommodate intelligence information; Identify & analyze informational databases, spreadsheets & reports allowing information to be easily exchanged & understood; Prepare intelligence reports, products, & briefings for presentation to all public safety partners; Coordinate interstate & intrastate information; Provide operational guidance to partners; Maintain association with & facilitates exchange of information between federal, state & local law enforcement agencies & taskforces for disposition of criminal activity &/or intelligence information on criminal activity (e.g. narcotic trafficking, illegal dark web activity); Collect, research & analyze intelligence information & other resources to determine patterns, trends & movements of criminals to aid law enforcement agencies with investigations; Coordinate research activities with other departmental units &/or outside agencies; Ensure compliance with applicable federal statutes & Ohio Revised Code (ORC); Assist in reviewing & recommending intelligence/analytical related software & hardware equipment; Create sophisticated &/or complex criminal & narcotic related policies; Formulate & implement plans, policies, & procedures for the receipt of locally & federally generated time sensitive threat information (e.g. policies & protocols for state & local governmental entities in the State of Ohio) in order to: assess local implications of time-sensitive & emerging threat information; Identify the dissemination of time sensitive & emerging threat information to all law enforcement, homeland security partners & other related public safety disciplines; Gather locally generated information (e.g., criminal activity, suspicious activity reporting) based on time sensitive & emerging threats. Independently review & analyze problems related to sophisticated criminal &/or complex organized crime-related activity from agency personnel & other intelligence units.

Maintain common operating picture for the State of Ohio including overall threats, hazards, & response operations throughout the state &/or nation as resources are deployed; Support information & intelligence gathering situational awareness reports; Support incident specific briefing to senior agency leadership & others as directed; Review correspondence, directives & reports to ensure accuracy & completeness; Analyze trends that may indicate potential need for state involvement & asset deployment; Conduct special analytical studies to support the agency.

Serve as resource person & technical advisor (e.g., responds to requests for information; represents agency in meetings) in area of criminal intelligence & public safety; Schedule, coordinate &/or conduct classes, seminars & conferences; Assist with office-related tasks as they pertain to the functionality & operation of the ONIC; Respond to the Hub, State Fusion Center, or Emergency Operations Center during critical incidents. Represent the ONIC at meetings & conferences. Cross-train job duties with Homeland Security & Criminal Intelligence; Utilize State vehicle to travel to various locations with required job related equipment (e.g.; lab top, surveillance equipment, etc.) in order to collect, research & analyze intelligence information & other resources to determine patterns & trends of illegal dark web drug activity &/or professional criminals to assist law enforcement agencies/taskforces & public safety agencies with investigations & the mitigation of public safety incidents; Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

36 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field; 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
