JOB PURPOSE:

Frontline supervision of all assigned security functions and Public Safety staff. Coordinates all routine and emergency security activities as assigned by policy or management. Enforces all PHC regulations and applicable state and federal laws. Advocates crime prevention and a secure work environment through observation, interaction, and intervention. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility. Supervise and develop junior officers.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High school graduate or GED equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Four (4) years general security, military or other public safety experience required with two (2) years of experience in a related job where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty, or an equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Valid Drivers license & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (IAHSS) required within one year of hire.

Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred

Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton required

Carry company issued firearm required

Must pass pre-employment psychological screening

Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate Piedmont values and excellent customer service to all patients, staff and visitors within a Piedmont Facility.

Supervises assigned personnel, and ensures proper training and informs manager of any

discipline concerns of those personnel.

Schedules assigned staff to ensure proper and efficient allocation of Public Safety resources and

a secure environment.

Oversees daily security operations in accordance with set PHC standards and policies.

Stays current on both routine and assigned departmental duties to ensure efficient assignment

and use of personnel.

Coordinate and conduct new employee and current employee training as it relates to key job

responsibilities and security operations.

Responsible for the management/ coordination of response to all routine and emergency security activities as assigned by policy or management.

Completes job related projects as assigned, and works to analyze and improve processes and

procedures within the organization.

Advocates crime prevention and a secure work environment through observation, interaction, and intervention.

Responsible for managing the active monitoring of all at risk patients, and the intervention in

escalating behavior.

Supervise the screening for and interdiction of weapons as they enter a facility.

Make sound judgments when utilizing force, including deadly force, to provide a safe environment.

Supervise, and ensure the proper conduct of, use of force encounters for all staff.

Demonstrate respect and courtesy in the conduct of job performance.

Performs documentation in the medical record.

Conducts and gathers detail on incident investigation.

Supervise, and ensure the proper conduct of, initial incident investigations.

Maintains training and readiness of self and junior officers. Participates in the Quality Assurance

process, takes ownership of problems to ensure positive outcomes and high levels of patient/visitor satisfaction.

Enforces all PHC policies, regulations and applicable state and federal laws.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Ability to learn and operate computerized security systems , concealed weapons screening systems , CCTV monitoring equipment , advanced video analytics/ threat detection platforms , and standard 2-way radios.

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
