Pay
This position is a non exempt position at pay grade 105.
Attendance
Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:30 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Public Works Technician II is responsible for operating and maintaining the City of Corpus Christi's Storm Water Pumping Stations to prevent flooding during rain events and severe storms.
Responsibilities
• Obeying all traffic laws while operating fleet vehicle and equipment from one location to another
• Follow all City policies. Be able to operate on even or uneven terrain such as streets & earthen rights-of- way
• Performing daily Pre/Post-trip inspections on all types of equipment and vehicles.
• Follow the Traffic control standards as per the Texas MUTCD Work Zone Traffic Control Guide
• Maintain rotation of all equipment such as pumps, generators, combustion engines, etc. to ensure properly performance. Use daily-and weekly preventive maintenance, visual inspections, and make necessary repairs using hand and power tools, and electric instrument
• Provide flood control by monitoring weather information systems such as NOAA, and TV Broadcast
• Maintain relief line valves inside manholes. Perform housekeeping with chemical supplies, brooms, mops, etc. Record equipment maintenance and repair, and vehicle inspections
• Respond to after hours and weekends emergencies. Must work under emergency responses during and or after any city emergency event. Example: Hurricanes, tropical storms, ice storms or any other city emergency. All employees will work On-Call Duty rotation schedule and must be able to work different rotation shift under emergency responses
• Keep materials stock in vehicles assignment, must communicate when supply/material are low
• Able to Work in high traffic areas, confined spaces and/or elevated conditions
• Must be able to communicate with internal or external customers
• When given a request, ensure proper communication with the foreman, work coordinator, planner/ scheduler, and assistant director
• Complete daily reports, work orders
• All reports and work orders must be legible
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Requires a High School Diploma/ GED
• Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience
• Certification in Traffic Control and Flagging (acquire within six (6) months of hire)
• Certification in Confine Space (acquire within six (6) months of hire)
• Underground Storage Tank Class C Operator Certification (acquire within one (1) year of hire)
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
