The Pulmonary Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist performs routine testing (spirometry, lung volumes and diffusion) on inpatients and outpatients referred. Responsible for assisting with bedside ICU bronchoscopy, lab diagnostic bronchoscopy and/or Interventional pulmonary therapeutic bronchoscopy; and works with a multidisciplinary team to include pulmonologist, endoscopy nurse, or nurse, and anesthesiologist. Performs all general and critical care respiratory care procedures and diagnostics on patients ages infant through adult. Administers, under medical direction, beta-agonists medication as well as bronchoconstricitive agents to patients, in order to assess pulmonary response. Maintains effective working relationships with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals.Description

• Current license from the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT).
• Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care. If credentialed after 2002, must maintain active membership status for credentials issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a respiratory therapist, and/or pulmonary function testing.
• Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.
• Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must have the ability to successfully complete work within rigid time constraints.
• Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
