Job Purpose:

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for the purchasing of goods and services necessary for our business. They will make high-quality, cost-effective purchasing decisions with a goal of increasing profits.

Description of Essential Duties:

• Develops profitable just-in-time purchasing strategies
• Utilizes effective negotiation tactics
• Handles supplier delivery change requests and questions
• Evaluates market conditions and suppliers to determine best purchasing decisions
• Expedites shipments, as necessary
• Ensures suppliers of parts, materials, and services are appropriately qualified
• Works with Purchasing and Plant Managers to decide which parts are needed to be purchased for fabrication
• Prepares purchase orders and related specifications for suppliers including delivery requirements
• Maintains purchase order log and schedule
• Provides copies of purchase orders to appropriate parties
• Maintains inventory tracking system
• Maintains material certification files
• Ensures continual improvement of process effectiveness and efficiency as it relates to obtaining parts, materials, and services on behalf of the company
• Prepares reports

Qualification Requirements:

• High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to details
• Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing procedures/practices
• Negotiation skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Analytical mindset
• Ability to quickly learn new software
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivables
• Ability to read blueprints, preferred
• Ability to work well with people at all levels

Sedentary position requiring extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Talking, hearing, and repetitive motions are required. Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.

Hours: 8am-4:30pm (Monday through Friday)

Clean and climate-controlled office environment.
