Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors.

As a Quality and Reliability Engineer, you will cover a specific set of Value Streams to ensure products comply with the company and industry standard, codes and specifications. You will design, recommend revisions, and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components.

Key tasks of the job:

Champion in driving the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Extraordinary Customer Experience (ECE) initiatives back into operations.

Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions utilizing a systematic problem –solving process (ie; Six Sigma methodology, DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma) regarding QPL Relay Qualification failures and provide support of validation/verification testing incorporating corrective actions

Assess and deliver on customer specific quality requirements (KPI’s, complaint processing times, approval requirements).

Conduct periodic evaluation of TE Customer quality performance: specific focus on number of Customer complaints, defective measure (e.g. PPM), complaint response times, quality of 8D reports.

Communicate customer requirements within the TE plants/functions to ensure awareness and compliance by providing training, support and organize regular reviews.

Negotiate with team, deviations and concessions with the customer where required and provide documentation to allow sign-off.

Customer quality complaint handling –drive and engage cross functional teams to conduct 8D responses including root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative measures and validation of effectiveness for implementation of cost-effective solutions (focus on repeat products / failure modes). Liaise with appropriate departments, ensuring deadlines are met. Timely 8D release to customer via TE Complaints Handing System.

Ensure the applicability of current quality policies, procedures, and objectives, staying informed about the latest updates / modifications related to relevant standards and regulations.

Develop and implement world class quality processes in the Quality System, in support of business requirements. Identify, initiate, and optimize internal processes and procedures to improve scrap reduction and working efficiency.

Provide support on New Product Introduction. Implementation through to completion (final product approval).

Lead and/or support Value Stream Change Management activity. Support and ensure adherence to procedure

Supporting Scrap Reduction Initiatives and promote / drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the plant using proactive tools such as Lean (TEOA), Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, Advance Product and Quality Planning (APQP) Statistical Process control (SPC) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

Be an active participant and advocate of the Client's Lean methodology (TEOA), Interact with cross-functional team members. Identify gaps and opportunities and drive continuous improvement throughout the plant.

Reporting of relevant site required Key Quality KPIs on requested frequency basis.

Conduct applicable on-site Quality training. Mandatory and developed.

Communicate and support Incoming Quality (IQE) / Supplier Development (SDE) personnel to coordinate inspection and action of non-conforming supplied products within Value Stream.

Must be able to work under flexible working schedules, including extended working hours as required.

Ability to travel to customers, factories and/or supplier locations as needed (estimated to be less than 10%).

Qualifications, training and experiences required:

Ideally Degree in either Industrial, Material Science, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Quality Assurance and/or minimum 5 years’ experience at a manufacturing plant environment in a Quality or Engineering role gained in an aerospace, military or automotive environment.

Degree not required, but must have commensurate exp.

Aluminum Extrusion / anodizing or harnessing or molding knowledge advantageous.

Technical by nature with a practical hands-on approach, with ability to read many types of technical drawings and specifications.

Experience of quality planning and implementation of quality tools (Histogram, Pareto, MSA, PFMEA, Controls plans)

Problem solving skills using 8D methods (3x5-Why, Is-Is Not, Ishikawa diagrams and similar assessment tools)

Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Six Sigma Green Belt certified and actively using certification to drive continuous improvement preferred

Strong knowledge of ISO9001 or AS9100 or IATF16949 in process compliance and with experience in conducting quality system audits

Product/process validation through known approval systems/processes (FAI, PPAP, APQP)

Organized with high degree of motivation and self-initiative, managing multiple tasks, and can adapt to changing priorities, accomplishing them in a timely manner

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficient using MS Office

Electro-Mechanical background

Aerospace industry exp. preferred, but Automotive, Industrial & Commercial, or Transportation acceptable

Problem-solving and ability to work independently a MUST

Project is for MIL-SPEC re-certification; must be ITAR compliant/US Person

Previous MIL-SPEC exp. a plus
