What will you do?
  • Develop, implement and coordinate statewide Quality Assurance Program for the Developmental Centers (DCs).
  • Develop, implement, and train staff on policies and procedures that promote health & wellness awareness & disease prevention initiatives throughout Ohio's developmental centers (DCs).
  • Develop and implement health improvement strategies for Ohioans with developmental disabilities living as the DCs.
  • Develop policies & protocols related to the healthcare needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Adapt chronic disease management strategies as applicable for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Develop and implements policies & strategies that are responsive to National Core Indicators survey results (e.g., ensuring individuals with developmental disabilities living in DCs receive routine screenings & examinations that promote health & wellness).
  • Analyze UI and MUI trends and patterns.
  • Design and implement quality assurance processes for health-related services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Support and coordinate statewide efforts to improve access to healthcare in the DCs.
  • Identify and design health-related information, materials, and communication strategy for dissemination throughout the developmental centers.
  • Represent DODD in discussions & collaborative efforts with other agencies (e.g., Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Ohio Department of Health).
  • Monitor and review current research & emerging trends in health and healthcare for individuals with developmental disabilities to analyze implications for developmental disabilities service system.
  • Review and analyze data to determine patterns and trends in order to formulate proactive strategies to improve services and outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities living in the DCs (e.g., reduce prevalence of medication errors).
  • Monitor healthcare regulations (e.g., "Do Not Resuscitate" law, federal, and state regulations). Develop strategies to ensure compliance. Provide technical assistance related to healthcare issues to staff of all levels (e.g., develop health & safety best-practice tools for implementing major unusual incident prevention plans in individual service plans).
  • Assist in implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) across DCs and monitor for compliance & consistency.
  • Develop training curriculum for nurses and other staff working in the developmental center delivery system.
  • Develop and/or conduct training for medical, dental, and other ancillary professionals to improve access to & quality of services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to fill in as needed as the Director of Nursing at a DC on a temporary basis if needed.
**This position is hybrid under the agency's current telework agreement.**
