Weyerhaeuser is seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to join our Elkin, NC OSB team.

We offer excellent wages, starting pay is $19.35-$26.75 per hour depending on experience, and benefit package which includes paid vacation, 401K plan, life insurance options as well as medical, dental, and vision coverage. Medical premiums range from $24.61 per month to $65.64 per month. Weyerhaeuser covers 96% of insurance cost.

Key Functions
  • Verify product standards are met through physical testing, statistical analysis and process measurements and observations.
  • Monitor and verify production parameters (key variables) throughout the process.
  • Communicate test results and observations to operations and management to maintain process and product conformance.
  • Identify and respond to statistical trends or non-conforming process measures and test values.
  • Ensure that non-conforming product is appropriately identified and segregated according to standard procedures.
  • Assist in process and product tests/trials as assigned and compile, analyze, and report trial test results as required.
  • Take action on any manufacturing deficiency or upset condition that may impact our quality and/or customers.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; preference to education or experience in applicable field of study (wood technology, sustainable materials, science).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Personal commitment to safety.
  • Able and willing to work safely around moving manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • Must work a 12-hour rotating day-shift/night-shift to include nights, weekends, and holidays; with every other weekend off (Fri-Sun).
  • Willingness and ability to perform the essential functions of the position, which include working at heights, climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, stooping, bending and exertion of more than 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 20 pounds frequently, and work in an environment containing wood dust and extreme heat or cold.
  • Must be able and willing to wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including a respirator at times.
  • Reliable self-starter able to work unsupervised.
  • Capable of thinking logically and critically, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adjust with changing conditions and multiple priorities.
  • Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow all quality and process standards to operate sample preparation and testing equipment.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
