Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) of experience related to the job.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Under general supervision, this position will serve as the Department Deputy Director's high level support person. They will be knowledgeable of daily activities and deadlines of the office, responsible for providing routine data analysis and some project management functions. The Quality Consultant will provide quality assurance for all work that goes through the Deputy Director's office, including all service request data: that work is being completed on-time and properly communicated within the databases that send information to residents.

Please note: This position will be required to be in the office 80-100% of the work week.

  • Experience supporting high level management: tracking assignments, including ensuring deadlines are met, follow up when needed, steps are not missed.
  • Experience with quality assurance: detail oriented with ability to analyze data to provide reports to executive team to show work effectiveness and areas of risk.
  • Experience with project management practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

  • Conducts continuous improvement projects for business units within the organization.
  • Supports risk mitigation evaluations to improve organizational performance.
  • Conducts assessments of organizational systems and processes.
  • Supports project teams and organizational change efforts.
  • Conducts continual improvement training.
  • Supports the organizations quality center of excellence.

    • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
    • Knowledge of performance measure development analysis.
    • Knowledge of applicable City of Austin, State, and Federal statutes, ordinances, and codes.
    • Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Skill in communication in a variety of formats including print, oral and formal presentations.
    • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
    • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with other City employees and the public.
