Job Summary

Minnesota Housing is hiring! We're a mission-focused financial institution looking for a quality control auditor who will complete quality control reviews to ensure program and statutory compliance for all loans assigned for review. The primary focus for this position will be reviewing files for compliance with the mortgage bond requirements with a secondary focus on supporting quality control reviews for various Single Family lending programs.

Essential Job Duties
  • Review selected loan files for completeness and ensure all required documents are received.
  • Complete single family quality control audit checklist accurately.
  • Identify loan file audit exceptions and document the issue in writing using standard exception language.
  • Draft audit response communication and send to external parties as needed.
  • Review incoming documentation and determine if it meets the requirements to resolve outstanding exceptions.
  • Report on loan file review and outstanding issues to management as needed.
  • Escalate unresolved findings, potential fraud, or misuse of funds to management as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings to report on audit outcomes and findings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
  • Three (3) years of experience in quality control, compliance reviews, loan underwriting, risk management, or program management reviews for a financial services company, mortgage lender, or bank. A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or economics may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • Technical skills and proficiency with experience in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of mortgage industry standard terms, mortgage banking processes, documents, and general familiarity with government sponsored enterprises (GSE) requirements.
  • Knowledge of the conventional, government guaranteed or insured, and privately insured residential single family mortgages.
  • Ability to demonstrate independent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to comprehend and communicate complex information in plain language.
  • Cultural competency as demonstrated by skills for communication and interaction across cultures and awareness of one's own world view and that different world views exist.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of mortgage industry standard terms, mortgage banking processes, documents, with advanced knowledge of GSE requirements.
  • Knowledge of real estate laws and regulations applicable to mortgage lending. transactions including GSE auditing or underwriting requirements.
  • Experience auditing or underwriting mortgage industry standard loan programs.
  • Experience working with Minnesota Housing lending programs, including knowledge of all programs and product types.
  • Certifications in Auditing, Fraud or Compliance.

Physical Requirements

Requires moving office items such as file folders and small office tools.
