Responsibilities

The Quality Data Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and resolving a variety of workqueues within the Epic system. Guided by knowledge and understanding of basic billing, coding, and registration practices, this includes resolution of Charge Review, Claim Edit, and Registration-specific errors and edits as well as patient pre-registration for upcoming appointments. Responsible for ensuring account accuracy standards are met by addressing and correcting deficiencies and reporting trends to leadership for further education and development plans. Serve as a liaison between clinical and non-clinical team members, including OHHP Physicians and Mid-Levels, to educate and improve documentation standards. Performs all work in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

Primary Duties:
  • Conduct daily audits and ongoing accuracy monitoring of assigned areas, reporting trends to leadership.
  • Provide feedback and educational programs on audit results to staff.
  • Notify the Director and initiate corrective actions for identified issues.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, managers, and administration on documentation standards and guidelines.
  • Keep leadership informed of team competency deficiencies.
  • Train new and existing department employees to align revenue with services provided.
  • Perform pre-registration and insurance verification for future outpatient appointments.
  • Contact patients (preferably 48 hours in advance) to confirm or collect missing demographic information, quote/collect patient cost share, and provide appointment instructions.
  • Maintain productivity standards set by the Director.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma required. Associate Degree preferred.

Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years job related experience in Health Care required. Knowledge of billing, collections and follow-up, registration and reimbursement of claims including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance highly recommended and preferred. Excellent Customer Service background. Good investigative skills and telephone techniques. Accurate and detailed oriented. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Proven organization skills needed.
