JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Quality engineer performs system and process audits for group suppliers. Defines semi-product quality specifications and requirements, and qualifies and approves potential suppliers, in cooperation with purchasing department. Defines quality planning of semi-products, and conducts inspection and approval. Conducts workshops at suppliers. Constantly monitors product safety and quality performance and liaises with defined suppliers to keep quality standards on a high level. Initiates escalation process for qualification, if appropriate. May provides advice for suppliers on design of semi-products. Supports complaint management regarding supplier problems. Performs regular reporting of audit, project and workshop results as well as local quality reports.

  • Responsibility for suppliers of simple commodities (SQE) or simple assembly cells (PQE).
  • Assist in non-conforming material review, MRB, on-hold material and containment of defects.
  • Advanced product quality planning of simple purchased components or simple products.
  • Perform SAP Quality functions (Q-info, inspection plans for receiving inspection, queries, use of supplier portal).
  • Application of statistical techniques to analyze data, make acceptance decisions, and improve process capability (Six Sigma, SPC, DOE).
  • Develop inspection standards determining key characteristics, methodology, and frequency of measurement.
  • Initiate and investigate Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
  • Work Cell audits and conducts routine audits and/or surveys to determine acceptability of quality controls.
  • Write process and product validation protocols and reports & equipment qualifications.
  • Asist in Failure Mode and Effects analysis activities for both process and design FMEA's.
  • Complete capability and gauge R&R studies as directed.
  • Assist in the development of effective quality control and associated risk management plans.
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.
Skills and Competencies

  • Experienced with APQP and relevant Quality control tools and processes, including knowledge of or education in Quality Engineering, design control, and verification and validation tools and methodologies.
  • Experienced in Intermediate Math, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Understands PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
  • Has intermediate problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in Metallurgy/Materials Testing and inspection/measuring machines and tools (ex. CMM, micrometers, calipers, gauges).

Work Environment
  • The employee will be required to perform duties on a computer terminal. The employee may be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other related Engineering
  • Minimum qualifications 2-3 Years of Relevant Experience
Base Pay Range

The base pay range for this role is $71,920-$107,880 USD. The company reasonably expects to pay within that range, however, New York Air Brake considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
