Job Summary:
SKF Aerospace is a first-tier supplier to the global aviation industry and much more. We design & manufacture complex, high performance, high-value bearings in steel and advanced ceramics. Our production group, technologies, & products are at the heart of aerospace industry and the world's leading aircraft jet engine & gearbox manufacturers at our Falconer, NY location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Heat Treat/Laboratory Responsibilities:
    • Review of Post heat treat M50NIL dimensional inspection for Case depth calculations.
    • Quality support for hourly metallurgical lab technicians.
    • Review of routed Carburizing cycles for the ECM (might eliminate).
    • Setting up Carburizing Cycles for Modern Industries to include distribution of coupons and ordering additional coupons if needed.
    • Group requirements for similar Carburizing Cycles.
    • Setting up Cycles Engineered Heat Treat
    • Review of Routers post heat treatment.
    • Disposition of Nonconforming product.
    • Metallurgical evaluation and disposition with Application Engineering & Customer for process allowances.
    • Repair cycles when required when hardness above or below requirements.
  • Review and Approvals of Heat Treat Consumables & Certifications:
    • Review and signoff of certifications for purchased hardness blocks and indenters per AC7102.3.
    • Review and signoff of certifications for purchased nitrogen, acetylene, thermal couples.
  • Pyrometry Responsibilities:
    • Yearly and quarterly Audits to NADCAP checklists AC7102, AC7102.3, AC7102.8 and AC7102_S.
    • Daily review of Pyrometry, System Accuracy Test (SAT), Calibration and Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) including signature signoff.
    • Customer Audits as required.
    • Yearly NADCAP audits.
  • Venture Aero Bearing Responsibilities:
    • Disposition of all Venture heat-treated product to Black Ring characteristics to include MRB of nonconformances.
    • Router and etch review of all Venture product prior to shipment.
    • Updating all paperwork prior to shipment.


Job Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Preferred candidates will have a four-year degree in Engineering, Quality, Information Technology or Business.
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered.
