The Senior Quality Engineer Specialty Gas position is an onsite position located in Tamaqua, PA.

Your Role:

EMD Electronics is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer Specialty Gas to join the Quality Assurance group in Hometown, PA supporting the Specialty Gas business field. The Senior Quality Engineer Specialty Gas will provide day-to-day Quality Engineering support for a fast-paced semiconductor materials manufacturing operation. This role will be a key driver for site Quality activities including root cause analysis, action plan development, and execution of continuous improvement efforts to mitigate risk to product performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Complaint Investigation:
  • Lead root cause investigations for customer non-conformances using standard models-based problem-solving techniques.
  • Create investigation reports (8D) that meet expectations, timelines, and provide robust corrective/ preventive actions.
  • Lead or participate in customer-interfacing quality activities in support of root cause investigations and improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate process or material deviations and provide guidance for the disposition of non-conforming product.


Data Analysis and Automation:
  • Provide SPC/SQC data support and customized trend charts to assess and monitor product/process performance.
  • Utilize LEAN Six Sigma practices to implement and improve plant quality standards and processes.
  • Provide support to maintaining KPI reports or regular quality reports required by customers.
  • Lead data automation and digitalization efforts through creation of automated visualization dashboards. Background in programming (Python, Java script, SQL) a plus.
  • Lead predictive techniques/ advanced data science analytics to identify control points and ensure quality before product manufacturing.


Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or other technical discipline required.
  • Experience with problem solving and investigation methodologies, statistical analysis, and data automation.
  • Applied experience with SPC/SQC and statistical techniques and software (Minitab/JMP), MS Office Tool(Excel, Word, Power points) skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Applied experience with ISO management systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and strong presentation skills. Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to work on multiple activities and projects in an organized and timely manner
  • Awareness of quality principles and tools such as quality engineering, reliability engineering, quality codes and standards.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of SPC/SQC, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions, problem solving, FMEAs, Design of Experiment (DoE), continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems.
  • Demonstrated project management experience as a leader and contributor.
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement, data automation, and data digitization highly preferred
  • Strong Data analysis and data preparation automation knowledge with background in programming (Python, Java script, SQL, Alteryx/DataIku, Tableau)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects.
  • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
