The Quality Engineering Technician will ensure that all material, both in-process and incoming, meets Tesla's quality requirements and specifications. This person will be responsible for identifying quality issues within the manufacturing environment, leading investigations and root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material. This person will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain rapid response and to drive continuous improvements to the production process.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various inspections, audits, and testing to evaluate product and process performance
  • Drive root cause investigations for in-process and incoming quality issues
  • Collect and analyze mechanical and electrical test and measurement data with engineering teams
  • Manage, inspect, contain, and disposition non-conforming material
  • Work with engineering teams to validate new product designs, equipment, and processes
  • Assist with PFMEA and control plan activities to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks before they become quality issues
  • Analyze production data to identify potential non-conforming or at-risk material. Work with cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals


Requirements
  • Experience with quality and process control in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Highly skilled in complex problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use a range of basic test and measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc
  • Working understanding of basic statistical concepts and methods
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineer drawings, with a working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experienced in QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred. Experience in Excel, SQL, Python, Mintab/JMP, and Solidworks/Catia is preferred
