RAD Student Tech PRN

Description
Performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Operates Radiology imaging equipment to produce radiological images of patients' body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist.
Essential Functions
Under indirect supervision of an RTR reviews the patients' history and physician's order
Educates the patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure the patient's understanding and cooperation.
Maintains a clean work environment.
Prepares equipment and supplies, selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
Troubleshoots, resolves and/or report equipment malfunction as necessary.
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
Works to keep radiation exposure to self, patient, and coworker as low as reasonably achievable.
Under the direct supervision of an RTR
When order, prepares and administers a contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice.
Non-Essential Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Attends and participates in staff meetings in-service, projects and committees as assigned.
Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of the STRHS.
Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary
Accepts all call schedule as directed.
Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.
Organizational Expectations
Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of whether there is harm.
Provide effective mentoring
Be loyal to the absent
Always manage up
Consistent use of AIDET & 5 P's
Uphold the facilities Standards of Performance
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Currently enrolled in an accredited Radiology Technology Program with the intent to obtain an Associate Degree in Radiology.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS may be obtained with 60 days following new hire orientation).
