Job Description

Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the incumbent will perform technical duties within Radiology. The incumbent is directly involved with various imaging procedures that apply ionizing radiation and other forms of energy. Incumbents may perform additional assignments as required per department. An Associate Radiographer Level III is an advanced or senior level technologist who can perform duties in various modalities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Radiographer Level III - CT Technologist, is charged with and responsible for:
  • Perform high-quality CT scans and must be able to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding of CT protocols.
  • Must demonstrate complete independent competency.
  • Work with the Physicians and Physician Assistants (PA) during IV contrast administration.
  • Perform daily CT QA/QC imaging.
  • Must demonstrate a team effort with all other Radiology staff, including but not limited to doctors, nurses, clerical, and support staff.
  • Must demonstrate complete independent competency in General Radiology.
  • Able to instruct students in routine CT and general x-ray exams.
  • Show knowledge and use of radiation protection, including proper technical factors, collimation, and shielding.
  • Able to apply all standards set by the Department of Radiology, Federal and State Radiation Protection Agencies.
  • Maintain room inventory and equipment checklist at the beginning of the shift and before patients enter the CT scan room.
  • Assures that all documentation is completed before the examination regarding informed consent, the universal protocol/time-out checklist, lab results, and pregnancy test.
  • Must be registered by the ARRT in CT.


Minimum Qualifications
1. For supervisory assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice as a Radiological
Technologist issued by NYSDOH; and two (2) years of experience as a Radiographer performing duties
consistent with Assignment Levels, I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. For specialized imaging assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice as a Radiological
Technologist issued by NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced-level certification in the appropriate
specialty area for the performance of these procedures.
