Job Summary
Coordinate the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department. Good physical condition necessary to perform the various aspects of the position which consists of standing, bending, lifting, carrying and moving of patients and equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers. Radiology Aide will assist Technologists with patients/equipment during diagnostic exams, so that exams are completed properly. Must be able to communicate in a professional manner, answer telephones and take messages.

Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees), reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and feels (perceiving attributes of items as size, shape, temperature, or texture by means of fingertips). Occasionally crouches (bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine), and stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist).

Job Requirements
Minimum Education
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
- Prior Patient care experience preferred.
- Good understanding of personal computers
- Meditech experience desirable
Minimum Licenses and Certifications
- CPR Certification

Essential Functions
- Coordinates the transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department so that patients have a safe and comfortable experience.
- Utilizes wheelchairs or stretchers if needed, to transport patients to and from the Radiology Department as scheduled.
- Assures patient needs are met while in the Radiology Department, including such things as patient comfort and appropriate clothing is worn.
- Assists Radiology Technologists with patients during diagnostic exams so that exams are completed properly.
- Assists Radiology Technologists by helping to move, lift, and position patients, as well as, monitor patients during lengthy exams.
- Provides clerical assistance and film processing assistance to the Radiology Technologists.
- Provides clerical assistance to department staff so that all records are maintained.
- Utilizes the hospital computer system to locate patient information for accurate records.
- Provides support coverage in the film library and for report distribution.
- Performs film processing duties to ensure that all films are properly developed
- Performs and logs processor quality checks and maintains proper processing chemical levels
- Provides clerical support to the Radiology Technologists and department manager so that all clerical duties are completed accurately and on time.
- Utilizes the hospital computer system to locate patient information as requested by department staff.
- Assists Radiologists and Technologists with Fluoroscopy and IOP.
- Operates the hospital computer system for film releases.
- Operates the hospital computer system for film releases.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients by assuring that sharp objects, toxic substances and other objects potentially harmful to children are not accessible.
- Assures that the environment of care or services is free of objects which may contribute to the likelihood of patient falls, slips or trips. Makes readily available assistive devices for ambulation. Complies with policies and procedures relating to gait belts and similar devices.
- Is aware of the increased risk of falls, slips, and trips for elderly patients and visitors, and assures that the environment of care or services is free of objects and spills which may contribute to the likelihood of patient falls, slips, or trips.
- Is sensitive to the tendency of older patients to have hearing difficulties. Verifies that he or she is speaking with appropriate level of loudness so that the patient hears instructions, questions, and conversations, but that offense is not given to the patient as the result of the voice being excessively loud. Is able to differentiate problems with hearing versus problems with comprehension.
- Takes appropriate actions to assure physical security of children and complies with policies and procedures related to the prevention of neonate, infant and child abduction.
- Is aware of reduced endurance and strength present in many elderly, and provides accommodation for seating during extended visits or exams.
