• In collaboration with the Operations Manager, the Clinical Supervisor provides leadership and assists in the oversight of the Diagnostic radiology areas to ensure that the clinical operations function smoothly and efficiently to accommodate providers and patients.

• Assists in providing day-to-day supervision of clinical staff.

• Responsible for maintaining efficient department operational flow and assumes operational responsibility in the absence of the manager.

• Utilizing NWH policies, procedures, budgets, and competencies as a framework, the Clinical Supervisor provides timely and effective overall clinical leadership, performance measurement, work coordination, orientation, and training of clinical staff.

• Handles all staffing schedules and assures appropriate daily department staffing to maximize its efficiency and effectiveness as well as assisting in call outs to find proper coverage for the affected shift.

• Assists the Operations manager in preparing evaluations and recommendations.

• Completes payroll activities for all departmental staff.

• In collaboration with the Operations Manager, communicates and coordinates issues surrounding equipment problems, patient delays, and patient communication.

• Assists Operations Manager in identifying cost-justified personnel needs within budgetary parameters with an outline of justification of expense.

• Assists Operations Manager in gaining consensus in clinical staff recruitment activities. Participates in interviews and hiring of technologists and support staff.

• Trains/mentors clinical staff per the NWH policies, procedures, and competencies.

• In collaboration with the Operations Manager, assists in the organization of new employee orientation, preceptorship of new technologists, and mentorship of new students per the NWH policies, procedures, and competencies.

• Assists the Operations Manager in successfully negotiating and collaborating resolutions to clinical staff-related problems.

• Provide patient care and administrative support, as appropriate.

• Performs all duties of a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist and remains competent in modality-specific skill sets.

• In conjunction with the Operations Manager, provides effective and prompt intervention, direction, and resolution of patient care problems and complaints.

• Maintains awareness daily of clinical opportunities, problems, and concerns, and moves to resolve these using established protocols and good management judgment.

• Reviews and maintains awareness of all patient care systems on an ongoing basis, offering ideas for improvements, participating, and leading teams and other quality improvement initiatives.

• Supervises the work of staff ensuring that work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Provides employees with additional training or counseling as needed.

• In collaboration with the Operations manager, reports corrective action behavior, and may assist in presenting corrective action plans to staff.

• Works with the Operations Manager to identify areas to improve clinical quality and productivity indicators for the site.

• Always maintains patient confidentiality.

• Acts with professional leadership exhibiting behavior that is in keeping with the NWH code of conduct

• Understands and remains current on modality-specific compliance rules (MQSA, State, ACR, DPH, and Joint Commission).

• Attends meetings and rounding as deemed necessary.

• Assists with annual MQSA/State inspection and ACR accreditation preparation.

• Performs all EOC and Joint Commission rounding in the department and maintains records of necessary repairs.

• Ensures proper stock of supplies needed for operations and communicates deficiencies to the Operations manager.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager/Executive Director and other Administrative personnel.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Associates Degree

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Experience

Required: A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist.

Preferred: Previous Lead experience

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • State/MA RT(R) license


Knowledge and Skills

Basic computer knowledge; excellent customer service skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team skills. Ability to exercise judgment in dealing with sensitive, confidential information. Detail-oriented with the ability to enter information accurately on paper and into all systems. Ability to handle a high volume of calls and work in a fast-paced environment and is self-motivated.
