About the Agency:

The Virginia Department of Military Affairs is a Commonwealth of Virginia state agency that provides professional and responsive support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Job Duties:

Ensures the ranges and maneuver spaces are maintained and ready for use;

Ensures that a significant number of target mechanisms on each range are operational;

Repairs and replaces target mechanisms as required;

Repairs all types of targets within authorized maintenance level;

Ensures serviceability of range facilities, (towers, vegetation, and electrical), by performing carpentry and electrical repairs within authorized maintenance levels;

Performs operator/repair maintenance on assigned equipment, (tractors, weed eater, chainsaws, batteries and associated equipment).

Minimum Qualifications

Able to repair electrical and mechanical systems on target mechanisms assigned;

Ability to perform carpentry and electrical repairs;

Ability to repair some computerized components;

Ability to operate computer terminal;

Ability to perform operator maintenance on tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, and some limited repair;

Ability to read and write.

This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than an average of 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.
