Job Description for MSREI Research - Senior Associate / Vice President role:
As a member of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing's Global Research and Strategy team, the individual will play an integral role in providing research support for investment transactions and strategies across MSREI's suite of real estate products globally. Research is integral to MSREI's investment process and an important function within the organization. MSREI executives around the world share information and exchange ideas, creating an environment fostering flexibility, collaboration and innovation. Our commitment to ongoing research results in new products, innovation and opportunities designed to meet clients' investment goals. The role is as much investment strategy as research and will be responsible for bringing global research deeply into the investment process on a very practical and applied basis.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Conduct analysis to include in quarterly global macroeconomic, property sector and capital markets updates and Investment Committee presentation
• Update regular research reports including quarterly Fund investor communications and regular internal research product
• Work with global investment teams to integrate market research into investment decisions and strategy
• Develop models to generate rent growth, cap rate and return expectations across markets and sector
• Leverage third party data sources and internal models to validate underwriting assumption
• Develop and utilize market screening/attractiveness tools in conjunction with acquisition team
• Analyze sector trends and identify implications on market and sector strategie
• Produce and publish articles, white papers and thought leadership pieces on a semi-regular basi
• Conduct analysis to help address specific client inquiries related to global markets / research topic
• Participate in ad hoc analyse
Skills/Experience/Education Required:
• Undergraduate degree in a real estate or a related quantitative discipline such as Economics or Finance
• 5-8+ years of real estate experience required
• Strong analytical and financial skill
• Technical expertise, including the ability to analyze drivers of real estate performance, including statistical analysis, attribution analysis, risk analysis and applied portfolio theory/modeling
• Consultancy skills, including creative thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply value creating insights to client decision-making processe
• Ability to work within a team and under tight deadline
• High commitment, results-oriented, strong self-motivation, and proactive
• Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple task
• Strong oral and written presentation and communication skills and the ability to build excellent relationships with the Research Team's client
• Strong organizational skill

Wage Transparency Statement
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000.00 and $200,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
