Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track Reference Coordinator and Librarian Assistant Professor or Librarian Associate Professor faculty position in the University Libraries that begins as soon as October 1, 2024. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following, at a minimum:

  • Coordinate and improve a tiered reference workflow for a single service point model that supports excellent information delivery services.
  • Develop a training program that empowers staff to problem solve and conduct appropriate reference interviews.
  • Maintain and coordinate all virtual reference services including chat and FAQs.
  • Manage statistical reporting system and analyze and evaluate reference services.
  • Provide reference, circulation, and general information support to the KSU community in multiple formats (in person, virtual, etc.)
  • Participate in unit leadership team to identify issues, collaborate on projects, and inform strategic direction and planning.
  • Engage in service to the University Libraries, the campus, or the profession.
  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Because our libraries are open 7 days a week and in the evenings, the position will occasionally be required to work during these times to serve the needs of the students. This position will work on both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, appropriate to a contemporary research-intensive library, such as an MLIS, or other related equivalent terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an academic library, related institution, or equivalent experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing reference services in multiple formats (virtual, in person)
  • Experience teaching and training
  • Project management experience
  • Customer service experience
