Summary:

This position is responsible for providing quality and organizational excellence by leading cross-functional quality and process improvement initiatives across the Health Care System. The Quality Leader will support the Referrals Program within Care Access and Service Integration (CASI) to lead quality improvement projects and assist in developing and executing strategic referral initiatives. This individual must demonstrate strong communication skills, accountability, adaptability, and be results-oriented. The Quality Leader will serve as subject matter expert in referral design, functionality, and workflows across UNC Health, working directly with operations staff and leaders to improve KPIs and referral workflows. The Quality Leader will conduct gap analysis and identify needed improvement strategies. Individual will perform in-depth problem solving, independent decision-making and coordination of quality programs. Individual will also utilize quality/process improvement tools, methodologies, and technologies to solve access-related business problems and enhance operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service - Provides high-level of customer service with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with team members at all levels within the organization. Effectively follows up on all issues assigned or escalates issues to management with recommendations on how to proceed.

2. Measurement & Analysis - Acts as a coach/consultant to assist departments in identifying and analyzing problems and implementing appropriate solutions. Strong analytical skills with the ability to define analytic needs, interpret and report findings. Ability to conduct gap analyses and draw conclusions from data independently.

3. Problem Solving & Implementation - Makes decisions based on analyses and data. Develops interventions and initiatives based on data. Implements decisions and spreads best practice. Responsible for spread and adoption of initiatives that align with system best practices.

4. Project Management - Assist Operational Project Manager with project implementation, as assigned. Develops and leads quality programs with a focus on implementation, collaboration, success metrics, and KPIs. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and departments to achieve common objectives.

5. Tools, Methodologies & Technologies - Ability to investigate questions, gather data, interpret, organize, and present information with the intent to gain understanding of a process, including measuring the process/problem and identifying/confirming underlying root cause through analysis. Develops interventions and initiatives based on data. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• Four (4) years of experience in quality team facilitation, project management, process improvement or quality data analysis.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

Preference is given to the candidates that display the following:

  • Experience and proven effectiveness participating and leading quality improvement initiatives. (Preferred but not required)
  • Previous clinic operations experience, including working with referrals. (Preferred but not required)
  • Experience designing and building enterprise-wide training materials. (Preferred but not required)
  • Must possess strong Microsoft skills to include, but not limited to PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. (Preferred but not required)
  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with Epic applications, Analytics and lean methodologies. (Preferred but not required)
