Summary
Portland, ME - MaineHealth (MH) seeks an experienced physician leader as their Regional Chief Medical Officer (Regional CMO) for the Southern Region.

It's an exciting time at MaineHealth. On June 1, 2024, leadership at MH successfully integrated the hospital license and medical staff of their flagship academic hospital, Maine Medical Center in Portland, with Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford and Sanford, establishing a multi-campus medical center collectively identified as MaineHealth Maine Medical Center.

MaineHealth is a not-for-profit health system dedicated to improving the health of patients and communities by providing high-quality affordable care, educating tomorrow's caregivers, and researching better ways to provide care. As the largest healthcare organization in the state, MH is an 11-hospital system with 23,000 care team members and over 2,600 providers in the medical group. The system spans a broad geographic footprint from North Conway, New Hampshire to the central Maine coast. The health system is anchored by its flagship academic 740-bed hospital, Maine Medical Center (MMC), a medical school affiliate of Tufts University Medical School. MMC is home to nationally recognized residency and fellowship programs and is committed to providing academic and clinical training to future generations of providers.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the Regional CMO will be responsible for the delivery of world-class patient care that spans the spectrum from primary community medicine to tertiary and quaternary level across the southern region. In addition, the Regional CMO will also serve as the CMO for Maine Medical Center based in Portland, Maine, where the academic programs of the health system are based.

The Regional CMO will be a skilled physician executive who excels in unifying a diverse group of healthcare providers, physicians, and staff. The ideal candidate will be adept at the navigation of complex academic health systems and have considerable knowledge and experience in clinical operations, quality, patient experience and safety, and their intersection with the business of healthcare. An M.D. or D.O. is required, and an additional advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is preferred. Deep familiarity with both academic and community health care delivery is essential.

All nominations, expressions of interest, and applications, including a cover letter and CV, should be directed to Kimberly Smith, Linda Komnick, and Tricia Porter, preferably via e-mail to tporter@wittkieffer.com.
