Job Summary
The Rehabilitation Director is responsible for the overall functioning of the Rehabilitation Services Department, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Diabetes Education and Children's Therapy programs. Responsible for ensuring departmental fiscal responsibility, staff and team development, knowledge of current trends in healthcare, program planning and development, marketing, commitment of the QI process, strong organizational skills, and collaboration with other departments, medical staff and the community. Develop and implement services to community and organization - Service Standards.

Essential Functions
Review and revise annual department goals and action plans. Assures departmental goals are consistent with organizational goals, collaborates with staff to prioritize goals, create action plans and evaluate progress toward goal achievement.Interviews candidates for staffing positions and work with HR regarding recruitment and staffing efforts.Reviews, develop and implement structures standards, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and forms in collaboration with the staff.Facilitates and coordinates orientation of personnel to department. Develop, implements and evaluated an action plan for identified areas of needed improvement in collaboration with new staff and preceptor.Provide statistics for benchmarking department performance. Analyze and interpret department responsibility reports and implement appropriate changes based on performance. Evaluate results and make revision as necessary.Able to assist and cover staff during absences from the department (I.e. perform outpatient and inpatient duties of staff Speech Therapist). Aware of workload of staff by advisor, teaching, and assisting as needed to maintain patient care for proper coverage of department.Create and submit annual budget. Accountable to budget process by analyzing and projecting staff, space and equipment needs based on department performance and program expansion plans.Attend department staff and other organizational meetings.Participate in non-departmental committees as deemed appropriate by supervisor and/or administration.Ensures compilation of annual department QI summary and plan.Coordinate student internship to ensure positive learning experience.Inpatient and Outpatient Adult Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.Children's Therapy Program.Cardiac Rehabilitation.Diabetic Education.Complies with all SVH policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Graduated of an accredited university in one of the following areas: Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy.

Experience/Training
Minimum of three years full-time as a clinical manager over multiple modalities of rehab services. Experience as a clinical and/or educational therapist working directly with patient/students and other professionals.

License/Certifications
Must maintain current licensure and/or certification to practice in the State of Washington and certification with National Organization. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare provider BLS required.

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and have positive relationships with physicians, other staff, patients, insurance companies, visitors, and the community. Able to maintain productivity and calm demeanor in busy, patient-care environment characterized by frequent interruptions and adherence to schedule to maintain patient flow. Able to develop, implement, market and coordinate special projects to enhance services to the community. Need skills in planning, budgeting and effectively organizing time to carry out department responsibilities. Demonstrated commitment to cost-efficient patient care. Expertise with computer technology including program and systems (Meditech, Pathfinder, Kronos, Visionware, Excel, Internet, Outlook, Power Point, and other data base systems and report generation as needed).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office.
