GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Associate Director of Regional Volunteers and Programs has primary and ultimate responsibility for the strategy, design and implementation of successful alumni engagement programs for specified regions as assigned. They will serve as the main point of contact and strategic lead for regional event and volunteer activity and will work collaboratively with volunteers, alumni relations and advancement officers in regional and academic units to coordinate and communicate regional activity. They will work with the Director of Regional Volunteers and Programs in developing strategic programs, managing a portfolio of volunteers, as well as tracking, analyzing, and reporting progress towards regional engagement goals to enhance our pipeline of engaged alumni, constituents and donors. Travel is required for this role.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $62,525 - $93,766 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regional Engagement Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional engagement strategy for assigned regions, including 1-2 top priority U.S. markets, collaborating with Advancement and campus colleagues and Regional Network Leader volunteers (Go, Give, Help, Connect)
- Establish annual regional engagement plan, tracking activity and progress towards program goals and metrics.
- Following the Rochester Model, partner with Advancement colleagues to maximize opportunities for alumni engagement (go, give, help)
- Facilitate coordination between other regionally-based networks
- Strategic leadership, oversight and coordination of one or more Signature/Anchor Events
- Manage budget for assigned regions
- Manage up to 8-12 Regional Networks, with a portfolio of approximately 40-50+ Regional Network Leader volunteers
- Assist Regional Network Leaders in coordinating business meetings to set and track annual engagement plans for their regional network, focusing on our annual signature events
- Through meetings with Alumni Relations and Advancement colleagues, oversee the lifecycle of volunteers in your region: identification, training, cultivation, stewardship, and appropriately concluding terms and/or moving volunteers through volunteer pathways
- A minimum of 50 purposeful in-person or virtual meetings with unique constituents in a fiscal year is required.
- Develop and implement a strategic annual engagement calendar for each assigned region that guides our work with Regional Network Leaders, offering impactful activities throughout the year including:
- Planning and management of annual signature events including Global Days of Service, Local Socials, Holiday/New Year Celebrations, and Rochester Connects.
- Support other volunteer-led and Advancement-planned events (Experience Rochester/academic events; virtual signature programs including Experience Rochester, REAL Conversations, and Career Conversations and others)
- Coordinate volunteers to facilitate strategic and targeted outreach campaigns and projects including post-event/engagement outreach & connections; Welcome to Network, admitted student outreach, Day of Giving, event invites, and promotion of specific digital engagement and volunteer opportunities including joining the Meliora Collective platform and participating in the Mentorship Program, College Admissions volunteer programs, and more.
- Oversee development of content for regional newsletters for top tier markets, and all event-related marketing needs.
- Review and modify all marketing and educational materials to ensure web pages, printed communications and collateral, e-mail messages, and other promotional vehicles for engagement in assigned regions are relevant and effective.
- For regions that have social media presence, in concert with volunteers, develop and oversee social media strategies to engage constituents in region and our our office's programs, volunteer opportunities, and services.
- Continued training, professional development and gaining of overall University knowledge through regular meetings with unit-based colleagues, faculty, and staff; training on UR Advancement protocols and procedures; technical training on Advancement's prospect management system; and honing of professional skills through seminars, conferences, trainings, and individual mentoring.
- Benchmark and develop relationships with other institutions on best practices alumni and constituent engagement
- Support of large-scale Advancement programs including our annual Meliora Weekend and biennial Volunteers in Partnership Leadership Conference
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of Regional Volunteers and Programs and Executive Director of Volunteer Networks and Programs.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of related work experience, preferably in advancement or higher education, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Outstanding communication skills, including direct interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative programs and solutions to problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, and lead volunteers is preferred.
- Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish objectives.
- Experience with computer technologies and sophisticated software applications.
- A personal belief in mission, goals and objectives of private higher education and a desire to change the world.
- Willingness to promote philanthropy for the University.
- Evening and weekend work are required.
