Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Laurel Heights Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic RBT to assist in the acquisition of functional skills/decrease in challenging behaviors of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Laurel Heights is a residential setting in which the RBT is responsible for data collection, implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP)s developed by BCBA , implementation of skill acquisition protocols including but not limited to: functional communication training (FCT), social skills, toileting and other activities of daily living, play and leisure skills. The RBT will also assist with various behavioral assessments as well as staff training and monitoring. The ideal candidate must consistently demonstrate the following: a positive attitude, ability to work well within a team, collaboration with other disciplines, adherence to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines, ability to effectively work under the supervision of a BCBA, and a passion for working with those on the Autism Spectrum. Qualifications

***Experience in a residential facility a plus***

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification preferably experience in a similar setting working with behaviorally disordered children and adolescents, preferably those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or related development disabilities preferably within an inpatient setting.

Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Acceptable oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the organization.

Basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward children and adolescents.

Basic knowledge of child growth and development preferred; experience working with abused children/adolescents helpful; skills in limit-setting necessary; able to respond to children/adolescents in a firm yet nurturing, caring manner, while maintaining professional boundaries necessary; willingness to seek supervision in this regard necessary.

Employee must have a valid Georgia's Driver's License.

In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization's orientation and training program.
