The Registered Dietitian will provide comprehensive nutritional and dietary services to the Vegas Golden Knights organization, encompassing all associated teams, staff, players, and prospects. Responsibilities include meal planning, individual consultations, development of nutrition protocols, and educational material creation. This role will align with the principles of the Sports Performance and Medicine Department, ensuring player-centric services within a multidisciplinary framework. Reporting directly to the Director of Sports Performance and Medicine, the Registered Dietitian will closely collaborate with the Associate Director of Performance and coordinate services with other multidisciplinary experts and coaches.

Professional Practice Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality diet/nutrition services to players as requested by the Director of Performance and Sports Medicine or Associate Director of Performance or a Team Physician, tailored to the needs of elite professional hockey players.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Performance for team and player related meal planning, organization, and development of dietary protocols for injury recovery and special needs.
  • Ensure maintenance of dietary guidelines and safety standards in accordance with professional hockey organization standards.
  • Offer player nutrition coaching, including comprehensive assessment, monitoring and evaluation, individualized nutritional education and lifestyle guidance, meal planning, hydration strategies, supplement provision and recovery strategies, and post-injury/prolonged illness recovery strategies.
  • Coordinate coaching sessions in alignment with the Club's and Players' training and performance schedules, with approval from the Director of Performance and Sports Medicine.
  • Provide expert support and guidance to the Club's Athletic Trainers and Strength and Conditioning Staff, including individual meal planning, team menu planning with in-house kitchen staff at home and third party providers on the road, player and prospect education materials, medical nutrition therapy, and supplement management.
  • Collaborate with team physicians to determine appropriate bloodwork and provide players with nutritional guidance based on results.
  • Work closely with team chef/kitchen staff under the guidance of the Associate Director of Sports Performance regarding menu planning, recipe development, and education.
  • Document nutrition services provided to ensure appropriate documentation of coaching and consultation services.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Registered Dietician (RD) and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, in good standing.
• Minium of 5 years' experience as a RD providing services to the athletic population.
• 3-5 years in professional sports is preferred.
• 2 years or more relevant post certification work experience.
• Previous professional or high-level amateur experience preferred.
• Ability to work in team environment is essential.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Fluency in English, both oral and written.
• Experience as a chef or a background in recipe development is preferred.
