Working in the department of Neurology, the nurse will work with multiple providers to provide care to patients with neurologic conditions. The Clinic Nurse is in the ambulatory Neurology Clinic Monday through Friday and plays a key role with a combination of patient facing care and triage nursing.

The Clinic nurse is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care to patients. The nurse is responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of a designated group of patients.She/he collaborates with the clinical care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will ensure that care is safe, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.

Busy ambulatory practice setting with clinic primarily out of Boston location. This is a full time40 hours per week. Monday through Friday 8am-430PM. There may be an opportunity to work from home twice per week following successful completion of the orientation.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This role requires strong triage skills and comfort with utilization of electronic medical records.
  • Provides competent, compassionate patient centered nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.


    • Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
    • Articulates the professional nursing role to the patient, family and health team members.
    • Identifies, facilitates, and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for an individual patient or group of patients.
    • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and modifying plans of care for a specific patient assignment throughout the healthcare continuum and in collaboration with the care team.
    • Coordinates involvement of the patient, family and health team members in patient care, including patient/family teaching.
    • Documents relevant patient information.
    • Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other health care team members and patient. Promotes continuity of care through effective hand-offs.
    • Educating patients regarding disease management and medications.Providing ongoing care coordination between clinic visits by communicating with patients, families, healthcare team members and other agencies involved.
    • Helps define standards of excellence for patient care; participates in improvement of patient care services in a cost-effective way.
    • Participates in, and contributes to, performance improvement activities.
    • Exhibits compliance with regulatory and quality and safety requirements.


  • Participates in daily operational activities necessary for safe patient/staff environment.


    • Utilizes resources efficiently to facilitate optimal patient care.
    • Assisting with completion of plans of prescriptions and disability paperwork.
    • Providing oversight, delegation and act as a resource to unlicensed staff, including medical assistants and administrative staff.
    • Provides input to the Nursing Manager
    • Professional Development:


      • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing education practices.
      • Adheres to Department requirements for required training.
      • Identifies specific learning needs and goals and develops a plan to meet them.
      • Contributes to relevant committees, professional meetings, continuing educational and/or formal academic programs.


Qualifications

  • MA RN license required.
  • BSN strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Neurology experience preferred.
