RNs must be advocates for Patient Centered Care. RNs must be caring, sympathetic, responsible, and detail oriented. They must be able to direct or supervise others, correctly assess patients' conditions, and determine when consultation is required. They need compassion and the ability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

Registered nurses (RNs) are expected to treat, educate, and provide support to residents. This role provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support to residents, as well as meets the needs of the family members/care givers.

RNs are expected to provide direct resident care on the assigned unit during the assigned shift. The RN provides direction, supervision, and evaluation of resident care. RNs monitor care delegated to other team members for completion and customer satisfaction.

RNs implement facility policies, procedures, and coordinates nursing activities with other services provided by members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

RNs have four main areas of focus: assessment, treatment, documentation, and education of residents in their care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Agrees to and signs the Employee Expectations form.

Exemplifies and role models a positive customer service behavior, loyalty, punctuality, commitment, and effective coping behaviors.

Exemplifies skills relating to leadership, team work, problem solving, and communication.

Admits or re-admits residents. Performs thorough nurse history and physical. Transcribes and notes orders. Notifies appropriate disciplines, neighborhood director, nurse practitioner, and physician of findings.

Delivers and coordinates care in an organized and flexible manner according to standards of nursing practice. Is knowledgeable of and insures adherence to state and federal regulations regarding care of the aging.

Follows and supports facility and departmental policies and procedures, mission, and vision.

Uses problem solving approach to resident care characterized by thorough data collection, analysis, planning of outcomes, process steps, implementation, and evaluation.

Assists in identifying common recurrent resident problems, symptoms and behavioral changes, appropriately assesses and communicates findings, utilizes facility health maintenance, and works with interdisciplinary team.

Communicates findings in an effective and responsive way to appropriate physicians.

Supervises and delegates responsibilities to LPNs, MACs, and STNAs. Assists in the evaluation and disciplinary process.

Initiates accurate and thorough documentation

Maintains current documentation nurses' notes

Monitors and countersigns nursing assistant's documentation records, when applicable.

Provides comprehensive documentation to consulting agencies/physicians including encouragement and forms to return results and orders to the facility.

Follows up to obtain results, inform physician, and provide subsequent care.

Position Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current Ohio registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Must be CPR/First Aid Certification
• Must follow all policies and regulations of Wexner Heritage Village.
• Position requires sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving during work hours.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
