To provide Employee Health Services for employees, volunteers and medical staff of Catholic Medical Center and other contracted affiliated company employees.

1. Conducts comprehensive pre-placement screenings on new hires and arranges for physical examinations by an appointed Employee Health physician. Reviews concerns with the Employee Health physician. Advises Human Resources Services of physical limitations which may interfere with the ability of an employee to perform the essential functions of their job. Ensures that employment entrance exams are conducted in accordance with the physical requirements outlined in the employee's job description.

2. Consents all new hires and volunteers for pre-placement urine drug screens. Oversees collection of urine using split cup collection cup according to policy. Sends out all presumptive positive samples to lab for confirmation. Facilitates and collects urine drug samples on randomly chosen employees within 48 hours of notification that they have been chosen. Presumptive positives will be sent out per policy. Will notify HR Business Partners of all Urine Drug Screen results per policy.

3. Administers and interprets Mantoux tests. Reports and handles positive cases according to policy and with consultation with Infection Control and other resources. Completes documentation to maintain compliance program.

4. Evaluates situations and administers treatment and medications for minor illnesses, accidents or complaints. Refers questionable cases to the employee's personal physician, or the hospital emergency department or as directed by the employee's healthcare coverage.

5. Administers vaccinations and testing such as TB testing, Hepatitis B, Rubella, Rubeola and Varicella vaccinations to ensure employee compliance.

6. Administers first aid treatment in the office, referring serious cases to the hospital emergency department or as directed by the employee's healthcare coverage.

7. Evaluates and examines employees returning to work from a medical leave of absence, who have been out of work more than three days or whenever there has been a medical change which may affect the employee's ability to work. Ensures that the employee has ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

8. Evaluates employees who report on the job injuries and illnesses. Obtains and documents history of incident and follow-up care needed. Completes and forwards forms.

9. Identifies employees who are unable to perform the essential job functions due to injury or illness and who are eligible for placement in the Temporary Alternative Duty/Limited Duty/Restricted Duty Program. Notifies the appropriate areas to initiate placement. Obtains documentation.

10. Counsels employees on exposure issues. Assists in follow-up treatment and testing in possible exposure situations verified by Infection Control. Provides initial assessment of reported blood exposures and follow-up care needed.

11. Tracks, monitors, follows-up and reports on employee compliance with employee health policies and state and federal regulations.

12. Maintains documentation log of employees and others seen and/or treated in the Employee Health Office. Documents employee visits on the daily log and in the employee's chart.

13. Participates in the planning, implementation and administration of the annual influenza immunization program, the annual Volunteer physicals, and Employee Wellness program.

14. Ensures confidentiality of all Employee Health, legal, budget and Catholic Medical Center matters.

15. Maintains an adequate amount of medications and supplies in the examination rooms. Checks medications and supplies for expired products and replaces products.

16. Participates on committees.

17. Performs Fit Testing.

18. Attends and presents educational programs.

19. Attends hearings at the Department of Labor of Workers Compensation cases.

20. Performs Drug Screening when deemed necessary.

21. Facilitates confidential lab draws post employee blood exposure.

22. Performs clerical functions.

23. Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials. Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance to ensure continuing functioning of equipment. Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.

24. Performs other duties as indicated or directed in the safest most efficient manner possible.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Experience :
  • A minimum of five years general nursing experience with at least one year emergency department, ICU or acute care setting.
  • Occupational/Employee Health experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
  • Current registration in the State of NH as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
