A Hospice RN (registered nurse) is a healthcare professional who provides nursing care and support to patients who are facing life-limiting illnesses. The main focus of the job is to provide comfort, dignity, and support to patients and their families during the end-of-life journey. Some of the responsibilities of a Hospice RN include:
Assessing the patient's health status and creating a care plan that meets their individual needs.
Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Monitoring the patient's vital signs and medical condition.
Providing education and support to the patient and their family regarding their medical condition and treatment options.
Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure the patient receives comprehensive care.
Keeping detailed records of the patient's medical history and progress.
Helping patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a current nursing license and experience working in hospice or palliative care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as well as the ability to work compassionately and empathetically with patients and their families during a difficult time.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
