Responsibilities*

Clinical Skills and Knowledge:
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the nurse in this role will provide nursing care to patients and families in the Pediatric Multispecialty clinics
The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to assess and meet the needs of the patient and family; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; teaches patients and caregivers; orients colleagues and peers; and provides support to the pediatric clinic team including other members of the multidisciplinary team
Independently and completely performs focused assessment to provide the most effective patient care to this patient population
Evaluate, screen and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources
Telephone triage will include: triage calls from patients/families (including Red Calls, symptom calls, follow up), clinicians and other healthcare team members. Portal messaging, encounter follow-up will also be included. Following up on test results.
Responsible for assisting in face-to-face clinic, as needed
Patient education including on medication, related side effects, new patient diagnoses
Accurately assesses patient's/family's readiness to learn, organizes and executes individualized teaching plan, evaluates patient and families? understanding and modifies approach as necessary
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all team members to improve patient outcomes. Active participation in quality improvement initiatives
Candidate must be able to function with minimal supervision and be highly motivated to provide excellent care and patient advocacy
Demonstrates ease in application of hospital policies and unit procedures and protocols
Candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills relative to assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
Candidate will be expected to demonstrate their ability to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously
Candidate will be expected to demonstrate their ability to problem solve in a collaborative manner
Candidate will be expected to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
Candidate will be expected to demonstrate their ability to function competently with the electronic medical record and other technological applications

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Michigan
Three or more years (within the last 5 years) RN experience providing direct patient care to Pediatric patients

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours per week, five 8-hour shifts
Days: Day shift; Specific hours to be determined upon hire, flexibility in days/shift may be required in the future.
Location: C.S. Mott Children's Hospital-Pediatric Multispecialty Clinics

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
