Responsibilities*
  • Coordinates procedural preparation and follow up for patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias and disorders.
  • Collaborates with other health care professionals, such as physicians, referring offices, scheduling, nursing, and diagnostic services to provide a coordinated plan of care for our patients.
  • Reviews patient medical records from referring physicians and establishes diagnosis and treatment plan with the medical staff.
  • Interrogates pacemakers, ICD?s and other devices. Adjusts settings of CIED based on protocol and under supervision and direction of EP Fellows, APP?s, and Attending physicians.
  • Provide ongoing Cardiology patient support per clinical and QI protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing research studies and in the development, implementation, evaluation and outcome monitoring of clinical care for Cardiology patients.
  • Coordinate and follow-up of Cardiology patient test and procedures.
  • Communicate plans of care with patients, family members, physicians and other consulting services.
  • Develops, evaluates, and reviews current nursing protocols and standards of care for cardiac patients utilizing current research and clinical practice guidelines.

Expectations
  • Must have obtained ACLS certification within 6 month of hire.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrate customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills providing patient and family education related to chronic conditions.
  • Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.

  • Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a RN caring for cardiovascular patients
  • Minimum of one (1) year within the last 5 years of experience with interrogation and programing of CIEDs
  • BLS certification

Desired Qualifications*
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • At least one (1) year of recent (within the last three (3) years) ambulatory care experience as a RN
  • Experience as a RN using clinical protocols to make decisions for adult patients.
  • Cardiology experience in a critical care setting within the last five (5) years.
  • ACLS certification

Work Schedule
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift/Hours: 10 hour shifts, Hours may vary depending on clinic needs.
  • Ability to travel to off site clinic locations including but not limited to Brighton Center for Specialty Care, Northville Health Center and Briarwood Health Center is required.
  • Potential for hybrid remote work based on clinical needs of the department.
  • Shift days and hours could vary in the future and potentially include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
