Nursing Services, Registered Nurse, Labor & Delivery

Degree/Education:
  • Diploma, Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Nursing from a professional nursing program approved by the state accrediting agency at the time of completion.
  • Submission of college transcript and diploma required.

Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA), healthcare provider course or equivalent based on national guidelines.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider-Advanced (NRP) certification, renewed biennially.
  • Fetal monitoring and STABLE certifications, renewed biennially.
  • Attendance for MAMC BLS and ALS recertification at discretion of department COR, non-billable status.

Experience:
  • Minimum one (1) year qualifying experience in Labor and Delivery within the past three (3) years.

Board Certification:
  • None required.

Licensure:
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Documentation of nursing license verification required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Technical supervision under Chief of Department or Government representative.
  • Proficiency in electronic fetal/uterine monitoring (placement, maintenance, interpretation).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical duties equivalent to military or government civil service nurses.
  • Designated roles: charge nurse, team lead, orientation provider as assigned.
  • Administer complex treatments, monitor equipment, assess fluid balance and laboratory data, administer IV push medications.
  • Manage intraoperative care (circulation nurse duties) and postoperative (postanesthesia) care.
  • Operate and monitor specialized monitoring, therapeutic, and resuscitative equipment.
  • Assess and provide total care for pregnant patients through Labor and Delivery, high-risk obstetrics, and mother-baby couplets.
  • Antepartum care for patients >18 weeks gestation, coordinate shift census and acuity, delegate staff assignments.
  • Knowledge of neonatal transitional care.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Follow scheduling procedures including shift work (evenings, nights, days), lunch and break schedules.
  • Flexible scheduling arrangements possible with mutual agreement between Contractor and Government.
  • Advance notice of planned absences required; changes to shift hours with five (5) day notice.

Work Schedule:
  • Shifts scheduled Monday through Sunday, including holidays.
  • Specific schedules provided one month in advance.
  • Coordination with Government for any schedule changes to maintain clinical operations.
