MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's 7 East is a 14-bed General Medical-Surgical unit with continuous pulse oximetry monitoring. The Clinical Nurses on 7 East provide expert care for patients with complex, multisystem diagnoses. Their professional experience, compassion and excellent communication skills ensure that all patients receive outstanding care. The unique care provided on 7 East provides a safe and nurturing environment for our patients with a welcoming and collaborative spirit for all associates.

Flexible scheduling! Minimum of 6 shifts, including 4 night or weekend shifts, in a 6 week schedule

General Summary of Position:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing competent professional nursing care using the nursing process. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

\r M inimum Qualifications\r
\r Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing preferred
  • \r

    Experience
    • 2 years Recent acute care experience in the relevant patient care area required
    • \r

      Licenses and Certifications
      • Current D.C. license as a Registered Professional Nurse required
      • Certification in Basic Life Support required
      • Certification in specialty or related specialty preferred

        • Ability to perform the nursing technologies.

        • Ability to set priorities and work under stress.

        • Communicates verbal information and documents are written and electronic information that reflects the planned and delivered care for patients.
        • LEADERSHIP_x000D_Supports and contributes to the unit, department, and organizational goals inclusive of the mission, vision, and values._x000D_Demonstrates advocacy and support on behalf of interprofessional teams and patients._x000D_Delegates and supervises nursing staff in providing patient care and assumes leadership roles, e.g., charge nurse role._x000D_Participates in the development and implementation of quality activities.
