A Mother-Baby Registered Nurse (RN) is a healthcare professional who specializes in providing care for new mothers and their infants. The RN is responsible for assessing and monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and baby, and providing education and support to new families.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessing and monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and baby
Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
Assisting with the initiation of breastfeeding and providing support for ongoing breastfeeding
Educating new mothers and families on infant care, feeding, and bonding
Assisting with discharge planning and providing ongoing support and resources
Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records
Responding to emergency situations and resuscitating patients as needed
Qualifications:
Current state nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
At least 2 years of recent experience in a Mother-Baby unit
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Knowledge of healthcare technology and medical equipment
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Working in a Mother-Baby unit can be both challenging and rewarding. The RN must be able to provide compassionate and empathetic care to new mothers and their families during a very sensitive time in their lives. The RN must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient needs. The role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to provide ongoing support and resources to families as they navigate the early days of parenthood.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
