Unit Highlights

MedStar Georgetown's Perinatal Department consists of a Labor\r& Delivery/Inpatient Antepartum Suite along with a Mother-Baby Couplet\rPostpartum Unit. Perinatal nurses assess the mother and neonate in a\rfamily-centered, holistic environment that supports the new family during this\rtime of changing needs. MedStar Georgetown is a designated Baby Friendly\rHospital and regional referral center for high-risk mothers and infants, and\renjoys a supportive and cooperative relationship with our outstanding Level IV\rNICU to provide excellent continuity of care for these families. Perinatal\rnurses collaborate with parenting services, antepartum/postpartum patient\reducators and lactation specialists to provide comprehensive patient and family\reducation. Our diverse patient population includes both medically complex and\runcomplicated patients. Perinatal nurses enjoy participating in collaborative\rgovernance at the unit and hospital level and are encouraged to attend a wide\rvariety of educational opportunities, including AWHONN regional and national\rconferences.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.

  • Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.

  • Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
