The Impact You Can Make
Glens Falls Hospital is seeking new and upcoming graduate nursing students for our nurse residency program! Grow and refine your nursing skills as you transition from student to clinical nurse in a supportive environment! This is a great opportunity for you to expand your education that you have gained in nursing school and apply it while working closely with RN mentors. Graduate Nurses or registered nurses that have less than 1-year acute care clinical experience are eligible to apply!
Team Impact
Glens Falls Hospital's Nurse Residency Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)! Current accredited tracks include Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, and Critical Care. The Residency program allows you to work closely with experienced RNs as you enter the nursing workforce. You will also be provided with opportunities for continued education and mentorship.
The program begins with clinical orientation on the day shift prior to joining one of our Medical/Surgical floors on the night shift. Clinical orientation includes rotating through our Medical-Surgical units while working with a nurse preceptor. In addition, the first six months includes 4-hour educational sessions every two weeks, to dive into high-risk, low-frequency nursing skills and professional nursing topics. During the second six months, nurse residents are provided further education and peer support during group mentorship sessions. Each nurse resident has a Clinical Nurse Educator assigned for the first year, who serves as a mentor to provide additional support as they transition to a competent, professional nurse.
