    • Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years
    • Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness
    • Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopaedic Institute


The role you'll contribute:

The Clinical Expeditor plays a pivotal role to decrease barriers, improve patient access and enhance quality of care for Central Florida Division acute care services, using clinical expertise, leadership, organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills. The Clinical Expeditor collaborates and provides support to other healthcare providers, patients, physicians, and care programs across acute care services. Personal and professional development is an expectation of the role to ensure consistent application of procedures, patient flow processes, and optimal communication. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth Orlando's service standards.

• Expedites, prioritizes, synchronizes and mediates clinical issues in real time. Removes barriers to discharge and addresses delays in care.

• Triages alerts and situational awareness via investigation per the electronic medical record and additional clinical resources.

• Manages deviations from patient care pathways; resolves bottlenecks and variation in service level agreements. Optimizes communication and prioritization with support services and a variety of clinical departments.

• Provides leadership and works with Command Center colleagues to address patient flow issues.

• Anticipates and determines strategies for long length of stay or complex discharge patients in concert with Case Management.

• Collaborates with Command Center operations and acute care leadership to identify process improvement strategies, reduce patient length of stay (LOS), trend delays, support quality initiatives and enhance patient safety.

• Defines patient activity triggers and feedback mechanisms to inform operational team members, physician leaders, and administrative team to mitigate over capacity situations.

• Develops strategies to manage surge in patient volumes.

• Develops quality and performance criteria and metrics for specific departmental initiatives in collaboration with Command Center leadership.

• Addresses conditional discharges orders.

• Liaises with Command Center staff and providers regarding clinical priorities and synchronization based on system needs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

• MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Ability to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally.

• A broad nursing knowledge in order to serve as a resource person when necessary

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• Experience working in acute care setting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED :

• Acute clinical case management, discharge planning in a healthcare setting

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or health related field

• Nursing or Clinical Education

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
